Penemuan baharu ini telah dinamakan bersempena dengan nama Ketua Pengarah Perhutanan Semenanjung Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Dr. Hj. Abd. Rahman bin Hj. Abd. Rahim. |

Hasil pemantauan aktiviti pendebungaan dan pembuahan yang berterusan, spesies ini telah dikenalpasti sebagai penemuan baharu sains dan telah direkodkan dalam herbarium Malaysia. |

Vatica abdulrahmaniana adalah spesies endemik Semenanjung Malaysia dan hanya boleh didapati di Kledang Saiong. |
|
| • |
Vatica abdulrahmaniana berbeza dengan spesies lain kerana ia mempunyai parut daun menonjol dan tunas ketiak berterusan pada ranting yang lebih tua. |
|
| • | Antara ciri-ciri fizikal pada spesies ini adalah; | |
| i) | mampu mencapai ketinggian maksimum 20m. | |
| ii) | diameter maksimum 30 cm. | |
| iii) | tidak mempunyai banir. | |
| iv) | Warna kulit dalam dan sapwood adalah krim kekuningan dan tidak berdamar. | |
| v) | Daun muda berbulu coklat keemasan pada lamina daun dan urat, menjadi glabrescent dalam daun yang lebih tua. | |
| vi) | Pada daun segar, permukaan bawah sedikit glaukus. | |
| vii) | Bracts bunga - cirinya adalah bujur berbentuk pisau pembedah, hijau ketika segar, urat, pubescent dan daun berukuran 10 × 4 mm. | |
