This orchid is one of the three species that are endemic to Peninsular Malaysia, namely Bulbophyllum linearifolium, Corybas holttumii, and Dendrobium rupicolum. Corybas holttumii was discovered and recorded by a group researcher’s lead by Prof. Madya Dr. Rusea Go from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) during the Scientific Expedition of Forest Biological Diversity of Gunung Besar Hantu, Negeri Sembilan held in 2010. This species is one of the orchid species threatened by habitat lost and climate change that may have caused some orchid species to extinct.
