The 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute of Foresters Malaysia or Institut Rimbawan Malaysia (IRIM) for the 1998/1999 session was held at 2.00 p.m. on 24 April 1999 at the Seminar Room, Techno-Economic Building, Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, Kepong.  It was attended by 39 members and one observer.

In his opening remarks, the President, Mr. Haron Abu Hassan thanked all members for their continued support towards IRIM, especially their keen interest and participation in the many activities that were organised by IRIM throughout the 1998/1999 session.  The President also thanked all the 1998/1999 IRIM Council Members for their support and hard work in making 1998/1999 a great year for IRIM to remember.  A special word of thanks was conveyed to two Council Members, Mr. Thang Hooi Chiew and Dr. Rusli bin Mohd, who ended their second term of appointment to the IRIM Council.

The IRIM Annual Report for 1998 was then presented by the Honorary Secretary, Mr. Wan Yusoff Wan Ahmad, which was followed by the presentation of the Financial Report for 1998 by the Honorary Treasurer, Mr. Yap Yee Hwai.  Next came the highlight of the AGM - the election of office bearers for the 1999/2000 IRIM Council.  After some secret balloting, the following were elected:-
